4 cups; fresh or thawed from frozen Okra

2 large eggs Egg

1-1 1/2 cups (yellow) Cornmeal

2 Tablespoons Flour

1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder

To taste Salt and Pepper

1/4 teaspoon Smoked Paprika

1/4 teaspoon; (optional) Cayenne Pepper

Crispy Fried Okra
w/ Cornmeal
Savory, Crunchy, Crispy Fried Okra is a delicious Southern staple. Cooked to perfection it’s crispy, golden brown crispy, crunchy taste is addicting. I bet you can’t eat just one!

Pour 1-1 1/2 " of oil into a pan or skillet, and heat to medium. |

Beat eggs in a medium sized bowl and set aside. In a Ziploc bag add cornmeal, flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper, and cayenne pepper (optional). |

1 cup at a time, dredge okra into egg mixture, then place into the Ziploc bag, secure, and shake vigorously until all pieces are covered. |

When oil is hot, place okra in the oil and fry until golden brown. (Do not overcrowd okra pieces, try to leave space in between to prevent clumping.) Repeat until all the pieces are cooked. Place on a paper towel to absorb excess oil. Let cool. Enjoy! |
